Good morning fellow rockers!

While I know it's a stretch to say she really ever "rocked & rolled", should Lady Madonna, now a fifty-something, continue to conduct her provocative shows? I'm no prude, but sometimes she stretches the boundaries of of propriety. I know she is an "Artist", but so was Andres Serrano (the guy who in '89 did "Piss Christ"- he submerged a crucifix in his own urine and tried to pass it off as "Art") and it becomes tiresome, almost uninteresting to see what she'll do next.
And while we are at it, does she and artists like ABBA really belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

Alrighty then! How many of you have heard the announcement of a Rock Hall inductee, and said: who the f*#@ is that? Or might know who an inductee is, and nevertheless said why the hell are THEY in the Rock Hall? Be honest. You know you have. Leonard Cohen? Tom Waits? The Moonglows? Donovan?

There was a brilliant set of albums (later CDs) released originally in the early 70s called Nuggets. The 2-LP set featured songs by "garage rock" bands, basically one-hit or no-hit wonders who played rock and roll because they loved it (all hoping to cash in, which for most never happened). You got songs by the Amboy Dukes (Ted Nugent's former band), the Count Five with their Punk forerunner chestnut "Psychotic Reaction", even a song  ("Fight Fire") by a then obscure band the Golliwogs - later to gain fame and fortune as Creedence Clearwater Revival.

My comment is this: There was more rock and roll on any one of those songs then there was on the entire catalog of James Taylor, Simon & Garfunkel, and Joni Mitchell.  (INMHO)

Thought for the Week

Chuck Berry, one of the most copied guitarist amongst 60s rock and rollers and one of the founding fathers of "rock and roll', never had significant chart success.  Only 6 of his 50s-60s songs hit the Top 10. Hell, Milli Vanilli had 3 times as many #1s as Chuck. What say you as to the reason for this?

We can talk trivia, we can talk history, we can discuss an artists' merits.
